I am on the side of love today and every other day
Our ability to love is part of what makes us human.
For some strange reason some people see this love as inappropriate if it is between people of the same gender.
Gender identity and sexuality are both fluid, just like a lot of other things are in the wiring of human beings.
There is nothing wrong about that.It is exactly the way it should be.
Today it is 10 years since I graduated high school.
I had planned to post some advice to my awkward 19 year old self.
Instead I want to write about the situation that we are facing in the world.Trying whatever small bit I can to be a person my former self would be proud of.
Human rights are under a serious threat.
In one weekend we have seen the right to have a safe abortion being restricted in one of the biggest countries in the world.
We have seen a terrorist attack on LGBTQIA bars in Oslo, leaving two people dead and 21 injured. There is so much violence, hatred and discrimination in this world that it is hard to take in.What should have been a celebration of love and acceptance became a horrific tragedy.
As some people have put it - we need to decide which side of history we want to be on.I am on the side of love and inclusion today and every other day.My heart goes out to anyone affected by what is going on in the world. No one should be exposed to violence or discrimination because of who they are. In the end we are all one - we are all human.
Love and peace,
